KTF has been elected to the affiliate's board of the UNWTO which comprises of companies (public or private), organizations, destinations, NGOs, educational institutions or bodies in over 80 countries worldwide whose activities are related to tourism and which contribute to the
UNWTO their knowledge and expertise to promote the development of tourism that's responsible, sustainable and accessible for everyone.
Kenya Tourism Federation was elected in in a highly participative and well contested election for the Africa regional Vice President position. The Tunisian Hotel Federation won the other seat for the Africa Regional vice president.
We are committed to working together with other affiliate members in the Africa Region to raise the profile of tourism in the region and promote sustainable tourism development in the region for the benefit of investors and the people in the region. The UNWTO secretary general who was the chief guest at the inaugural Kenya Tourism Awards said urged us to ensure that Africa which is the cradle of mankind is a success in Tourism and we will work with other affiliate members to make this a reality.
Kenya Tourism Federation is the umbrella body for the private sector in tourism and represents over 900 tourism related businesses through 7 member associations. Being part of the affiliate's board connects our members with other affiliate members operating in more than 80 countries worldwide.
Kenya enjoys a cordial working relationship with UNWTO led by the Minister for Tourism Hon. Najib Balala. We are dedicated to sustainable tourism development in the country. The theme of this year's Kenya Tourism Awards KETA to be held in June is "Sustain, diversify, celebrate Tourism." The awards are jointly organised by KTF and KTB which is also a UNWTO affiliate member.
